Audio Museum Guide
AUDIO Museum Guide was developed within the project "My Museum Guide", won under a program for financing projects in the field of movable cultural heritage, museums and visual arts at the Ministry of Culture.
One of the main strategic goals of the Archaeological Museum of Hisarya for the presentation of the archaeological heritage is the continuous enrichment with new approaches and modern means in the presentation of the movable cultural values in the exhibition areas of the museum.
Our aim is to stand out as a museum with a developing and innovative character, which will help us build a competitive advantage over all other museums in the country. In the project we emphasize the creation of a modern design of the museum space through a standard and a digital guide. This will provide an opportunity to diversify our educational programs and to facilitate the access to the museum exhibition spaces of various target groups, including people with disabilities.
The “Emperor Diocletian” Hall - in this hall I will tell you about objects that were used by the people who lived around the Hisarya mineral springs from the antiquity to the time of Roman civilization. The “Emperor Constantine the Great” Hall is named after the Emperor, who in 313 accepted Christianity as an equal religion in the Roman Empire. At this time, many early Christian basilicas (churches) began to be built in Diocletianopolis, and the city became an important episcopal centre in the Diocese of Philippopolis. In the hall, together with the exhibits, you will be taken to the times of late antiquity and the Middle Ages.
Lapidarium "Diocletianopolis" - This is the ancient name of the modern town of Hisarya. During the Roman era, Diocletianopolis was the third largest city in the Roman province of Thrace after the cities of Philippopolis (Plovdiv) and Beroe (Stara Zagora). In the open lapidarium area you will learn how the mineral water was captured and transferred to the Roman baths. You will get acquainted with the traditions and beliefs of people in antiquity.
With the realization of the idea we will expand and renew the presentation of our movable cultural heritage. The project is built with the ways of innovative technologies, artistic images, creating a virtual audio environment.
We are glad that you’ve met our guide Archi. You are always welcome again and we look forward to seeing you.
